On April 17 at approximately 1417 hours, the Essex Junction Fire Department and Essex Fire Department were dispatched to respond to a condo unit on Densmore Drive for a reported fire in the ceiling.
Engine 7, Ladder 3 and Car 9 responded and arrived to find a multi family building with nothing evident from the exterior of the structure. Engine 7 crew pulled an attack line and began to investigate. Personnel located a smoldering fire in a fan inside the bathroom on the second floor of a unit. Crews ensured the fire was extinguished and checked the surrounding ceiling area for any extension. Finding none, units were placed in service.
This small fire was a great example of why you should call 911 immediately if you suspect there is a fire in your home. Delaying can cause the fire to spread rapidly, leading to much more damage.
