On July 14 at approximately 0600 hours, the Essex Junction Fire Department was dispatched to respond mutual aid to the City of Winooski for an apartment building fire at 62 Weaver Street in Winooski.
Engine 5 and Car 9 responded with a total of five personnel and arrived to find a two story apartment building with fire in the roof of the structure. EJFD personnel were initially assigned as the Rapid Intervention Crew and stood by as such for most of the fire. Personnel were then put to work conducting overhaul on the roof of the structure. The fire proved to be stubborn and took multiple crews worth of manpower to access all the hidden fire in between multiple roofs and walls.
EJFD personnel operated alongside firefighters from Winooski Fire, Colchester Fire, Saint Michael's Fire, Burlington Fire and the Vermont Air National Guard Fire Department.
EJFD personnel were cleared from the scene after approximately two hours.
